Silly season just keeps getting sillier. It is wild to think about Brad Keselowski leaving RFK Racing at the end of this season.  Surely, I am not the only one who thought that this was a permanent move. Brad Keselowski wants to keep driving. Apparently, RFK executives do not want him to keep driving. At least, that’s what is being said on the surface. We know that Keselowski has complained about Ford playing favorites with Team Penske over team radio comms. Furthermore, we know that Dodge is planning on joining Cup soon, but next year is increasingly unlikely. Finally, we know that Brad Keselowski won a championship with Dodge during their last year in the sport.

Look at all this knowledge, yet we know so little. Keselowski for his part has been quiet about his future plans. I remember how surprised I was when he left Penske to help rebuild Roush-Fenway. In all honesty, we should be expecting something just as earth shattering here.

Recently, I made the argument that Josh Berry would be perfect for the Trackhouse 88 entry in 2028.  Well ol’ 7-time, Jimmie “Jams” Johnson jumped on the Wood Brothers’ mistake fast. Full disclosure, I am a Shane van Gisbergen fan. Prior to that, Kevin Harvick was my driver, and prior to that, my driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr. I want to see someone who can help turn an organization around to drive that 88 in 2028. Ultimately, I think you can see where I’m headed with this. Justin Marks has an opportunity here that he needs to jump on.

Keselowski (and possibly Dodge) can save Trackhouse
(Much like he Saved Roush-Fenway)

If you read my articles or follow me on X, then you are well aware of my complaints involving the ECR engines that both Trackhouse and RCR run. Ultimately, I think Hendrick engines are the way to go for Trackhouse. If that isn’t possible, then they need to jump to Dodge in 2028. Trackhouse would take precedence over the smaller Kaulig, I would imagine. You have two drivers, Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen who have multiple wins. Dodge will want to win. Team Trackhouse could become the top tier Dodge team. This is possible without Brad Keselowski, but it just doesn’t feel right without bringing him on.

Even if we leave manufacturer changes off the table, Brad Keselowski would be a no brainer for the 88 in 2028. Unfortunately, Trackhouse runs into the same problem they had with hiring Josh Berry. They don’t have an open seat for 2027. Honestly, there aren’t any open seats at this time in cup. Obviously, this makes Jordan Bianchi’s hints at a triple crown attempt by Brad Keselowski more obvious.

While skipping cup for a season wasn’t really a great option for a driver like Josh Berry, who still has a lot to prove and is running out of time to do so, it isn’t so crazy for a Brad Keselowski. His long term goal is to keep running in cup. Keselowski feels he has several more years. Kevin Harvick raced until he was in his late 40s. In many ways, Harvick was a hold over from previous generations that often raced into their 50s. BK, honestly, seems to be the same type of driver. He could use the 2027 season to help RAM in the truck series. At the same time, he could become the first driver to win a championship in all three top national NASCAR series.

With or Without Dodge

Honestly, I think right now Trackhouse Racing needs to do everything they can to get Brad Keselowski in that 88 entry for 2028. If he wants to bring Dodge with him, well these ECR engines haven’t been the greatest. If they could get Hendrick engines, I think BK would be fine with that as well. Ultimately, if you listen to his infamous radio chatter about how Ford favors Team Penske over RFK, you can tell he just wants an equal chance to win. I think he’d be just as happy with a Hendrick Engine powered Chevy.

Brad Keselowski has proven he can turn a team around. A team like Trackhouse needs Brad Keselowski, regardless of manufacturer, because Justin Marks is kind of a hands off owner. His headquarters are in Nashville not Charlotte. Believe me, as a former Stewart-Haas Racing fan and current Trackhouse fan, I worry about this constantly.

Right now Trackhouse has a top tier driver in Ross Chastain and a legitimate generational talent in Shane van Gisbergen. Both are not spring chickens, even though this sport seems to favor said spring chickens these days. Currently, I see Trackhouse spiraling. Even with SVG’s top 10 at Las Vegas this past week, the other two finished laps down. It is my sincerest hope that Team Trackhouse not treat SVG the way Stewart-Haas treated Kevin Harvick in the final years. Drivers aren’t pack horses. They aren’t meant to carry teams on their backs in today’s NASCAR.

Please Trackhouse Racing, hire Brad Keselowski for 2028 and consider a manufacturer change. Surely, if Brad Keselowski heads down to the Truck series as is rumored for 2027 and becomes the only triple crown championship winner in the history of NASCAR, then Trackhouse will be open to a manufacturer change. It would be cool to see BK finish his career in the 88.
