The last NASCAR Cup race at Indianapolis was not much of a race as it was a train show that saw minimal passing, no non-pit stop or restart lead changes, and Corey Heim pick up his 2nd career Cup Series win. Now, after a much needed off week to decompress from the boring show Indy put on, we head to a Short track that will hopefully pick up the action, Iowa. Down below you will find different statistics from all of the NASCAR Cup races here at Iowa Speedway ranging from Most Wins to Best Average Finishes by starting position. So read and enjoy these fun fact track stats!
In this post you will only find all-time stats, if you are looking for only active drivers stats or Next Gen stats check out my next article Active/Next Gen Cup Track Stats: Iowa.
Active Drivers will be highlighted like so
Active means any driver who started a race in the 2026 Cup Series season.

Through 2 Iowa races it is clear that you want to start 2nd this weekend as both Iowa Cup winners have started 2nd.

Through 2 Cup races at Iowa there is no trend as to how the Pole winner will finish this weekend as one did good, and one did bad.

It’s only been two races, but no Cup driver has won an Iowa race and the Pole in the same weekend, but Chase Briscoe did get close last year.

It appears that leading a lot of laps at Iowa is key to winning as both Cup winners here have led over 40% of the race in which they won.

Based on the two Iowa Cup races leading 6% or more of the laps this weekend (21+ laps) is a good omen as 6 of the 7 drivers to do so finished inside the Top 10.

Hendrick Motorsports has been in a bad slump of late, but don’t be surprised if William Byron breaks out of that slump this weekend as he’s the only driver to rank top 5 in the Driver Rating table above twice.
