Roulette Recap follows a randomly selected driver throughout a race to break down their efforts. There is no telling ahead of time how the race will go. The driver could face calamity on the opening lap or start from the rear and win the race. With that, may the odds be ever in the driver’s favor.

Stage 1

Two drivers heading to the rear gave Tyler Tomassi a small boost ahead of the HyVee Perks 250 at Iowa Speedway. However, those two quickly worked around Tomassi, and he settled in at P37.

Early on, he went down a lap, but Spotter Eric Holmes continued to coach his driver around the track. The first caution came on Lap 28 when Nathan Byrd went for a spin.

Tomassi noted, “I’m tight center. I’m doing my best here.”

Crew Chief Shannon Shehan brought his driver in for some adjustments, and Tomassi returned to the track in P36. He gained a spot when Jesse Love lost a gear and went sliding.

As the stage came to a close, he went down another lap while he and Holmes discussed entry.

Stage 2

Following a pit stop, Tomassi started the second stage in P34. He had lost a spot when Kyle Sieg went for a spin.

The No. 53 team made a game plan to come in for more adjustments. Tomassi then restarted from P35 on Lap 81.

As the laps ticked by, the hits kept coming. Another lap was lost, and when the stage ended, Tomassi sat P36.

Stage 3

He came to his crew for fresh tires and fuel, along with another swing of adjustments, and lined up in P36 for the final stage. He was running P35 when the caution waved with 100 to go.

When asked if he liked the changes, Tomassi noted, “Yeah, much better. I can keep up with these guys.”

He restarted from the same position, but the caution quickly waved as William Sawalich went for a spin.

The next restart came on Lap 166, but one lap later, Carson Ware went for a spin right in front of Tomassi. The No. 53 just barely missed the incident.

Following the Lap 174 restart, there was another immediate caution. Tomassi quickly said, “Gonna be one of those races now.”

He restarted in P35 and was running there when the next caution waved. He joked, “At least I haven’t seen the leaders in a while!”

The Lap 189 restart came with Holmes noting, “They’re trying to wreck out front.” Tomassi was running P34, and the wreck came five laps later. With that, Tomassi moved to P33 with 50 to go. With 25 to go, he lost another lap, but held on to P33.

With five to go, Jeb Burton went for a spin, bringing out the caution again. This set up NASCAR Overtime.

Tomassi restarted P33, but there was an immediate caution when the front of the field got jumbled.

The second attempt at Overtime saw drivers kept it clean, and Tomassi brought it home P32.
